Solar photocatalytic degradation of emerging contaminants using NH2-MIL-125 grafted by heterocycles

This work reports the photocatalytic performance of NH2-MIL-125 grafted by heterocycles for removal contaminants emerging concern under solar light. Grafting with different heterocyclic carboxaldehydes reduces band gap, thanks to heterocycle as an antenna light absorption. 3-pyridinecarboxaldehyde (3PA) results in best harvesting degradation acetaminophen water matrices. The abatement additional contaminants, i.e., antipyrine and sulfamethoxazole, was also evaluated. depends on nature target compound. Trapping experiments conclude that superoxide radicals are main reactive species involved photodegradation process, while electrons hydroxyl play a minor role. 3PA-grafted photocatalyst shows remarkable constant novel analysis continuous flow regime, achieving total conversion (ACE) 16 h stream. herein described provide comprehensive insight into using aromatic heterocycles.
